Based on a recommendation from the Peshawar police, the interior ministry has directed the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to partially suspend cellular services near main Muharram processions on both Muharram 9 and 10. He stated that Ashura processions on Muharram 10 will be monitored through aerial surveillance while stringent security will be provided.

The council also appreciated the Gilgit Baltistan administration for making the elaborate security arrangements to ensure protection of all processions. Law enforcement agencies were put on high alert throughout the country to deal with any untoward event.

Special traffic plans for the processions of 9th of Muharram have been chalked out across the country.

In Peshawar, the main Alam and Zuljinah procession of Ashura will be taken out from Imambargah Agha Syed Ali shah Qissa Khawani Bazaar on Tuesday.

For this objective, he said that more than 12,000 policemen have been deployed, including lady constables, in Peshawar for the security of processions. Water tanks (Sabeel) had been arranged across the route of the procession.

The procession taken out from Imambargah Kashana Bukhari late Sunday night culminated at the starting point after passing through traditional route.

Similar processions of Tazia and Zuljinah were also taken out in Hangu, Parachinar, Kohat, Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan. As many as 1258 Majalis would be held in different parts of Sialkot, Daska, Sambrial and Pasrur tehsils on Ashura.
