Korea says it tested super-large multiple rocket launcher

But a USA spokesperson dismissed the launch, calling the latest North Korean missiles "projectiles", perhaps because the launch came only a day after North Korea's Vice Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui proposed a resumption of talks in late September. South Korea's military said the two North Korean projectiles fired Tuesday flew about 330 kilometres (205 miles) in the direction of the waters off the North's east coast.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has overseen the testing of a super-large multiple rocket launcher, North Korean state media KCNA said yesterday.

"What remains to be done is running fire test which is most vivid character in terms of the power of multiple rocket launcher", KCNA said.

Tuesday's projectile launches came a day after a senior North Korean official said Pyongyang is ready to resume denuclearization talks with the US.

President Donald Trump has played down this year's tests.

While offering talks, North Korea still warned its dealings with the US may end if Washington fails to come to the negotiating table without new acceptable proposals.

North Korea is due to come into focus when the UN General Assembly meeting starts next week in NY, after a UN Security Panel report said Pyongyang was violating sanctions to help fund its weapons programme.

Scarborough seemed shocked and appalled with this take, saying "Donald Trump, an American president, actually fired his National Security adviser - or forced him out - because the dictator of North Korea didn't like him". This suggests that North Korea hasn't wanted to lift its self-imposed moratorium on nuclear and long-range missile tests, which would certainly derail negotiations with Washington. South Korea's top nuclear envoy was due to go to China, the main benefactor of Kim's government, this week to discuss developments on the divided peninsula.

Biegun's remarks last week highlighted that nearly no progress has been made toward an agreement on North Korea's nuclear program despite three meetings between Trump and Kim.

Choe said she hopes the United States will bring "a proposal geared to the interests of the DPRK and the USA and based on decision methods acceptable to us".

Kim and Trump agreed to restart working-level talks within a few weeks when they met at the inter-Korean border in late June, but the talks have not been held amid heightened tensions amid the North's continued weapons tests.
