Boris Johnson knocks back Nigel Farage’s election pact

Boris Johnson is trying to trigger a general election

The politician has already said that he would not field candidates in seats held by Tory Brexiteers who back a no deal, known as the "Spartans", and said he was willing to come to arrangements in other constituencies in exchange for the Conservatives standing down in 80 to 90 seats in the North East, Midlands, and Wales - the Labour Leaving heartland, where the Tories would likely not win.

Farage, who as UKIP leader pushed then-Prime Minister David Cameron to call the Brexit referendum and then helped lead the campaign to leave the European Union, said he was preparing for a another Brexit referendum.

Britain's opposition party leader committed to holding a second Brexit referendum if the Labor Party wins the next general election. He claims the only way Labour can win the election is by uniting Remain-backing voters who are now split between the party and the Liberal Democrats.

Mr Corbyn responded to his deputy's intervention saying: "It's Tom's view and I don't accept it and I don't agree with it".

"A general election could fail to solve Brexit chaos", he said.

John McDonnell has said the people of Scotland must determine the mandate on which a second independence referendum could be called, as the senior Labour figure again refused to rule out another vote on the constitution. "A general election could fail to solve Brexit chaos".

They have just met after a night of high drama in parliament.

He promised to establish a new ministry that would deliver better wages, greater job security and give workers more of a say over how their workplaces are run.

"But if there is a mandate from the Scottish people - and the Scottish people will define that mandate - we will certainly not stand in the way of it".

Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage dramatically used the front page of a national newspaper to offer Prime Minister Boris Johnson an election pact on Wednesday, but the Conservative leader has snubbed the deal.

Mr McDonnell said: 'It is the choice we are faced with at the moment - if we allow them to continue on, it is between socialism or the barbaric undermining of some of the civilising influences and public services that we need'. He may have to give MPs the freedom to choose their side or risk opening up even worse divides.

"And in that election we will commit to a public vote with a credible option to leave (the EU) and the option to remain".
