Project Resistance first details, trailer, and screenshots

Project Resistance PS4 Play Station 4 2

Earlier this week, Capcom teased the latest game in its Resident Evil franchise.

The game is still known as Project Resistance, but Capcom says that is a working title. The 4v1 co-op survival game raised a lot of eyebrows, with fans expressing their utter disapproval against the direction Capcom undertook for the Resident Evil franchise.

Mastermind can track players by checking out security cameras to see where they are, while players can use their character-specific abilities to survive the hordes of undead within and gain an advantage over the nigh-unstoppable zombie flesh tanks that are hunting them down.

These security cameras are also used to monitor where the Survivors are at, and obstacles are placed via a deck of cards at the Mastermind's disposal. You can take direct control of the monsters, including - as implied by the previous trailer - Mr. X himself.

Project Resistance will come to PC via Steam, but a closed beta scheduled to run from October 4 through October 7 will be exclusively available to players on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Project Resistance takes place in Raccoon City, the setting for Resident Evil 2 and 3, where Umbrella has been capturing youths for experimentation. In turn, the Survivors must cooperatively work together as a team to fend off the Mastermind's attacks and complete puzzle style mission objectives to escape the map before time runs out.

Each Survivor will have their own unique skill to help their team get the best of the Mastermind and escape from the twisted experiment.

No word yet on exactly when Project Resistance will launch, but between the closed beta and likely further details at TGS, we'll learn much more soon.

The game doesn't now have a release date.
