“The Soup” to Produce First Ever Live Episodes
To put it simply, I love E!’s The Soup. I had the pleasure of attending a live taping and it only strengthened my appreciation for the show, and for the job Joel McHale does week in and week out. With the success McHale has had over the past couple years one might think he would have left the show behind, but seeing him continue to host the beloved comedy makes it all the more impressive. With the help of his writers, they’re creating a series that’s simple yet never bland. The series just passed the nine year mark, and what makes it even more impressive is the fact that they don’t just do seasons in the way many shows like this do, but they’re producing a weekly product.
For the show’s 500th episode, the cast and crew will be putting on their first ever live episodes. Rather than adopt the Saturday Night Live formula, The Soup will be going the 30 Rock route. Instead of taping one episode live for the east coast and having it replay for the west coast, the satirical series will produce two separate episodes. Catch the episodes will air on Wednesday August 21 at 10 P.M, and will feature different special guests for each episode, so be sure to also check out the online streams at E! Online And The Soup TV.
